Knowledge Forum® (KF), the next generation of Computer Supported Intentional Learning Environments (CSILE), is an online discussion platform and provides a collaborative workspace for students to engage in knowledge building inquiry.
Knowledge Forum Features and Affordances
- KF View – a collaborative discussion workspace for students to contribute and build-on ideas
- KF Notes and Scaffolds – students use “Scaffolds” (e.g. “I need to understand”, “My theory”, “New information”) to write or co-author Notes
- Linking and Rise-Above – e.g. build-on, reference notes, rise-above notes/views
- Assessment and Analytic Tools – record and reflect students’ online activities (e.g. notes contribution and interaction, word cloud, author network, lexical analysis)
